Brief Summary: On Jan. 10, 2015, Zeng Xifeng, came from Zhongfang County, who had been suffering from repeated rheumatic arthritis for more than 10 years and being severe for 7 days. Ther 66-year-old woman had been suffering from repeated pains of the joints for more than 10 years. Her condition became severe for 7 days. She was hospitalized in our hospital as a patient with rheumatic arthritis for TCM treatment at 11:00 a.m. on Jan. 10, 2015.

Essential for Diagnosis:

1. The patient had been suffering repeated pains of the joints of her four limbs for more than 10 years, and her condition was severe for 7 days. She suffered chronic bronchitis. Yet she had no allergy history of any food or medicine.

2. When Miss Zeng came to our hospital, the joints of her four limbs were painful, especially the joints of her lower limbs. It was slightly limited to lift her upper limbs. Sometimes there was numbness over her arms. It was not flexible for her to bend or extend her right knee-joint. And it was related with the weather. If the weather was cold, her pains was severe. While the weather was getting warm, the pains relieved. She had dizzy and blurred vision. Occasionally she fell in a faint, and then she woke up within several seconds. There were no palpitations and shortness of breath. The patient had cough with white viscous phlegm. She had oppression. Her appetite was not good. If she took too much, there were distension and pains over her stomach. Her sleep was not good, yet there was no night sweating. Her bowel movement was dry, once 5 to 6 days. Her urination was normal.

4. The patient had normal spiritual status with chronic painful facial expression. There was no sign of yellow sclera or yellowish skin. There was no enlargement over her superficial lymph node. Her neck was soft with no resistance. Her five sense organs were normal. The pupils were round and approximately equal in size. The pupillary reaction to the light was sensitive. There was slight congestion in her throat. There was no enlargement over his thyroid. The appearance of her trachea was good, in the center. The jugular vein was of no engorgement. Her chest was symmetrical. Sound of breathing in the lungs was rough, with rhonchi. Rhythm of his heart was 74 times per minute. Heart rate was irregular. Her abdomen was soft with no pressing pains and enclosed masses. There were slight   pressing pains over her gallbladder area. There was no sign of deformity over her spine. There were slight pressing pains over her right shoulder joint. There was slight swelling around her right knee-joint, with obvious pressing pains. It was not flexible for her to bend or extend her right leg. The nerve pathological reaction was negative. The tongue body was dark red with thin and yellow coating. The pulse was taut and sometimes the pulse was pausing.
